Our Projects

The BID programme is built around practical delivery. The focus is on visible improvements and coordinated activity that supports the day to day experience of the city centre.

Cleaner
Improving the look and feel of the city centre is a clear priority. Businesses highlighted concerns around graffiti, litter, the condition of lanes and the general presentation of high footfall streets. The response is a focused programme of additional cleaning activity.

A dedicated Clean Team is in place, working across the city centre to target known problem areas. This includes removing graffiti, improving the condition of bins and street furniture, and focusing attention on lanes and key access routes. The work is visible and responsive, with activity directed towards the areas where it will have the greatest impact.

Alongside this, independent environmental audits have been commissioned to provide a clear picture of current conditions. This baseline information will guide how the programme develops, ensuring that effort and investment are targeted where they make the most difference over time.

Safer
A city centre that feels safe is essential to confidence and footfall. The BID is supporting this through a more visible and coordinated street presence, particularly during busy periods and in the evening economy.

Vibrant
A strong city centre needs energy and activity. The BID is supporting this through a programme of marketing, events and coordinated campaigns that encourage people to spend time in the city centre.

This includes working with partners to deliver promotions and activations that support key trading periods, as well as creating opportunities to showcase what the city centre offers. The intention is not to add noise, but to create a more consistent and joined up approach to activity.

Empowered
Strong communication underpins the entire programme. Businesses need to know what is being delivered, what is planned and how they can contribute.

The BID will provide regular updates through a range of channels, alongside direct engagement with levy payers. There will be opportunities to share feedback, raise issues and help shape the direction of the programme.

Alongside this, there will be a continued focus on using data and evidence to track progress. This allows the BID to demonstrate impact clearly and to adapt activity where needed.
